A HOLINESS IN THE CHURCH: A VIEW FROM THE II VATICAN CONCILIUM

Abstract

This scientific article aims to study the understanding of holiness in the Church as a universal vocation from the perspective of the aggiornamento proposed by the Second Vatican Council. Thus, through the documents of the Church's Magisterium, books, theses and articles, a deepening of the theme will be sought in order to present the vision of holiness in the beginning of the 20th century, through the Magisterium of Pius XI and Pius XII, in the same way, chapter V of the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium and its consequences will be analyzed, with the basic affirmation of holiness as a universal vocation in the pontificates of John Paul II and Francis. Finally, it will be emphasized that holiness is not a privilege for a few, but a possibility for all the baptized. It is, therefore, the most beautiful face of the Church that is built through the practice and experience of love.
